My Story
Hi, I’m Leslie! Welcome to Thru The Dark Tarot & Astrology. My journey of combining Tarot & Astrology started when I was completely lost. The outside world thought I had everything together. I was utterly insecure and totally disconnected spiritually. I tried every hobby I could: crocheting, sewing, gardening, martial arts, you name it. Nothing was really making me feel connected to myself or to others. Then I got my hands on different astrology books. I began reading everything I could by the greats. Soon after, I was drafting birth charts for my family, next for my closest friends. Suddenly, I felt like I could “see” other people, like really see them. About a year later, I finally tried my hand at Tarot again after a 20-year sabbatical. After doing readings for those around me, I started doing virtual readings for people that I didn’t regularly interact with.
Fast forward to current times and I started to get a nagging thought that I was missing out on truly deep insights. There was this binary choice of either Astrology OR Tarot. Again, going down the rabbit hole I started learning everything I could about combining these two mystics together. I wanted to not only understand what the stars had to say, but also what our purpose is here on Earth. It wasn’t until I started to learn about combining both Astrology & Tarot together did I learn my life purpose for my Sun sign. As a Sun Leo is to be a leader by showing others how to dissolve their egos, but by first learning to dissolve my own ego.
How combining the two helped me
Combining Astrology & Tarot suddenly made me feel so connected to both my fellow humans here on Earth. More importantly, I also felt connected to the energies in the universe. I was able to better understand at a deeper level how we are all connected. My hope is to share that same feeling of being connected with you.
Life is hard enough on its own, wandering around this earth waiting for the other shoe to drop. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Life will always be hard, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a heads up so you can be more aware and less shocked at the different themes we are facing?
Don’t get me wrong, not every energy pulse is negative. Sometimes the good can be a little overwhelming too. Sometimes we can feel like imposters, like maybe we don’t deserve what is coming to us. Knowing that the good and bad all have a purpose to move us forward can feel cold and callous. However, sometimes it can feel comforting knowing you are not crazy for the way you feel. The Stars see you, and I see you.
I hope you enjoy this journey of a blog as much as I enjoy sharing this information. Acknowledging our own experiences while still holding space for others’ experiences helps us build stronger communities and generations to come. As always, stay safe & aware!
Combining Tarot & Astrology: How Tarot fits in to the mix
Tarot was first created back in the early 1400’s in Italy, and has expanded so much since then (you can read more here: https://www.britannica.com/topic/tarot). Although interest in Tarot has grown, especially in the last few decades, it has been a divination tool used for centuries. When we use Tarot for divination, we don’t just tap into our own subconscious. We also connect with those that came before us. While there are a ton of different decks available to purchase from all over the world, the most widely used (and most widely modeled off of) is the Rider Waite-Smith deck, created in the early 1900’s. So many of these images and meanings are still incorporated and/or updated today.
We use Tarot for divination to see what is coming our way, but also as a spiritual tool. We can see ourselves objectively and realize what we still need to work on. Sometimes, it’s also helpful to feel like the Universe is letting us know we are on the right path. Despite what some might say, Tarot is not connected to any spirituality or religion. People from all walks of life can use Tarot or have a reader interpret the cards on their behalf. As I always say, Tarot is life!
Combining Tarot & Astrology: How Astrology fits into the mix
For thousands and thousands of years, Astrology has been used by countless civilizations. In fact, there was a time that Astrology and Astronomy were synonymous with each other. A person couldn’t learn Astronomy without first understanding Astrology. Now, these are recognized as two very different things – but both are still used today.
Astrology gives us Archetypes that we can aspire to as well as keep an eye out so that we don’t get off balanced ourselves. After so many years, Astrologers have detailed personality types, body types, and pretty much anything else you can think of they can associate with signs and placements. If you ever want to feel like someone looked deeply into your soul, I highly recommend having an Astrologer draw up your birth chart. I’ve had many people tell me they felt like I could see into their souls, even parts they didn’t want to share or admit to others.
Combining Tarot & Astrology: Putting it all together
Combining Tarot and Astrology takes these two well versed tools and blends the deep, soul revealing insights to give an individual a true understanding of who they are. Not only will someone understand the way they communicate, but what their life purpose is so they can become the best communicator. Maybe you feel like you can’t process emotions like your peers. Wouldn’t it be interesting to see not only the energies you have to battle but also what goals you should strive for?
Combining Tarot & Astrology is tapping into what our ancestors used to decide what kind of jobs to have, if they should move, would they ever stop feeling the pain of a loved loss one. These are two spiritual tools that can be combined to better understand what energies are affecting us all, and what we can do so we can continue growing into the best possible human beings we can be.
