Today is the New Moon in Capricorn, but this has an extra flavor since it’s the 2nd New Moon of the month. When this happens, we call it a Black Moon. New Moons are about setting your intentions – however, with this being a Black Moon right before the New Year, this really is about setting your intentions for the New Year. How interesting is it that it’s in Capricorn at 9 degrees? Let’s break this down for what it really means…
Capricorn is associated with The Devil Tarot card, and it sadly gets such a bad rap. When most people see The Devil card, they tend to get freaked out like some bad force is working against them. That’s not the case at all. The Devil card is about facing your fears and recognizing what you are allowing to have power over you. When The Devil appears in a reading, there isn’t some dark force coming for you. What’s actually happening is that you have chained yourself to the material world. If you can recognize your own chains, then you can work to remove the chains yourself.
When the New Moon is in Capricorn, it’s about setting intentions to start removing those material chains and not allowing the material world to have a hold on you. To make this more interesting, this Black Moon will be at 9 degrees Capricorn. This is ruled by the Two of Pentacles…The Lord of Balance & Action. Two of Pentacles is all about balancing the spiritual and material world.
With us now experiencing Pluto in Aquarius, we are seeing the extremes. People are either getting extra lost in the material world or going extra deep into the spiritual. Yes, the extra spiritual are starting to get a little righteous…and yes, I said it. I may invoke some anger, but let it sit with you for a bit before responding. We live in the material world, so we are always having to walk a rope of balance between living our spiritual life and blending it with the material. This will be harder than usual to walk this rope, but with extra patience and focus we can do it.
