Today, Venus enters Pisces and will remain there until February. While there, Venus asks us to understand our internal self and birth what our heart truly desires into reality. Perfect timing since we just started the new year. Let’s take a look at the cards to truly understand this transit, starting with Pisces since that’s the lesson…

The Moon from Weird World Tarot

In Tarot, Pisces is associated with The Moon card. The Moon card is all about our unconscious and hidden selves or dreams. When any planet enters Pisces, it’s hard for that planet to keep it’s feet on solid ground. There is a hidden depth that feels like it’s been opened, and most of the time we are afraid to look at what’s there. Pisces can sometimes feel like it’s a doorway to the Otherworld, with no promise the door will stay open. My son is a Pisces and most of the time I wonder how much of the time he walks in one world and the other at the same time.

The Empress from Weird World Tarot

Venus, on the other hand, is associated with The Empress in Tarot. The Empress is about understanding and birthing the realities we want. She represents building and bringing into existence the reality we wish to live, but only if we’re willing to go through the pain it takes to create that reality. In almost all Tarot decks, The Empress is usually pregnant. While yes, this can sometimes represent someone who is actually pregnant – most of the time that’s not the message. And this time isn’t about becoming pregnant in some whimsical way.

Our lesson is to take the internal journey needed so that we can fully recognize what our hearts’ desires are. Do you want to start your own business? Are you looking to start a new home project you’ve been putting off? Is there a cooking class you’ve always wanted to take? These are the hidden desires we tend to put into the shadows for a number of reasons. Maybe we don’t think we’re good enough – or we don’t have what it takes to succeed. Just like any quest, there is always some part of the journey where the faithful warriors are tested with their fears. This is an allegory of what it’s like when we take our own internal journeys to our hidden truths. When we stay faithful to ourselves and take this journey, we are blessed with a deep understanding of our own hidden desires and dreams.

The Empress is our teacher – she’s here to be our loving material mother who wants us to succeed…as long as we remember that nothing comes easy. We can’t just dream or keep those desires a secret. We have to birth them into reality. The only way to do this is to first acknowledge the dream or desire. Then comes the work that we must put in. Just like parents have nine months to prepare for a child to come into existence, we must also start preparing ourselves for the steps we need to take.

There are a lot of people who will say if it’s meant to happen then it will…well if it’s fated then yes. But our entire lives are not fated. And The Empress enters each sign to remind us to birth the reality we want. We cannot wait for something to simply happen…we must take responsibility for our part of our reality and life. Wishing you most the most successful internal journey to your heart’s desire!
