AI Generated image of a mystical scene of a simple folk magic ritual for the New Moon in Aries.

When people think of rituals, they imagine something that resembles ceremonial magic. Most of our grandparents and great-grandparents and so on practiced folk magic. Folk magic doesn’t require you to put on a big event – sometimes those quiet moments are much more powerful. If you’re looking for a new moon in Aries ritual to use for the upcoming new moon on March 29, 2025 – this is a great one to use.

This is simple but potent, honoring both the folk magic approach and the bold energy of Aries. If you are looking for what kind of intention to set this new moon, check out my latest New Moon in Aries post. Without further ado, here’s the ritual:

What’s Needed for Your New Moon in Aries Ritual

To make the most of your New Moon ritual, gather these simple yet powerful tools:

  • Mini Cauldron – Perfect for safely burning your sigil and releasing your intentions into the universe. Find it here.
  • Fire-Safe Dish – A great alternative if you prefer a simple, open dish for burning. Check it out here.
  • Journal – To write down your intentions, reflections, or record the outcome of your ritual. Get yours here.
  • A small piece of paper and pen (to create your sigil or write your intention).
  • A small object that symbolizes courage or strength – Twigs, charms, and stones will work great.

Step 1: Ground Yourself
Take a moment to stand tall, feet firmly planted. Visualize the strength of the Emperor and the quiet wisdom of the High Priestess. Feel the earth beneath you and the fire of Aries within you. You are both grounded and ready.

Step 2: Create Your Intention
Think about what you are ready to initiate. This is about stepping into leadership in your life—what are you willing to courageously begin? Write your intention as a clear, simple statement.

Example:

  • “I step forward in courage and claim my path.”
  • “I trust my inner fire to guide me.”
  • “I plant the seeds of bold, authentic action.”

Once you have your intention, you can now create a sigil if you would like to use one. You can also leave your intention written how you have it to burn.

Step 3: Activate the Intention
Place the intention (or sigil) into the mini cauldron. Speak your intention aloud, like a quiet promise to the universe. Say the below incantation or come up with your own:

By ember’s glow and fire’s might,
I set my will into the night.
Let courage bloom and fear release,
And guide my steps in strength and peace.
As I will it, so shall it be.

Then, burn the paper to release it, letting the smoke carry your intention into the unseen. As it burns, imagine the fire igniting the first spark of your new beginning.

Step 4: Anchor the Intention
Take your chosen object (stone, twig, charm) and hold it while saying:
“I carry this strength with me, a reminder of the path I choose. As I will it, so shall it be.”

Place this object somewhere visible to keep your intention alive in your subconscious.

Step 5: Close the Ritual
Take a deep breath and visualize what it feels like to walk through life with your intention. When you’re ready, thank the moon and ground yourself again by touching the earth or simply acknowledging the moment’s end.

Remember to give yourself some time after the ritual. Although it’s simple, it’s powerful. Sometimes feelings may come up over the next few hours. This can include awe, fear, excitement, you name it. Journaling afterward can help you process both your ritual and your emotions.
